HBA joins letter to Congress urging regulation of the hemp beverage category.
The Hemp Beverage Alliance was a signatory in a letter to Congress urging regulation. From the letter:
Congress faces a defining choice on the November 12, 2026 hemp deadline. We write to be direct about the consequences of inaction and to urge a path that achieves the consumer protection goals we all share.
Allowing this deadline to proceed without a comprehensive regulatory framework will not result in improved public safety. It will produce the opposite: a thriving illicit market, weakened state enforcement, economic disruption for more than one million American workers, and less safety for the very consumers Congress is committed to protecting.
The Coalition for Adult Beverage Alternatives (CABA), the Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of America (WSWA), the Beverage Alcohol Merchants Coalition (BAMCO), the Beverage Wholesalers for Responsible Regulation (BWRR), Hemp Beverage Alliance (HBA), the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS), the American Beverage Licensees (ABL), and allies representing more than $1-$2 trillion in annual U.S. revenue urge Congress to extend the November 12, 2026 deadline and to give Congress time to appropriately regulate the hemp industry. We also stand ready to serve as a resource for Members of Congress and regulatory staff on the alcohol regulatory framework and proven state-level low-dose hemp beverage programs that can be replicated federally.
